09-08-2025Maxell is probably the last known reputable company still making cassette tapes (or at least putting their name on a cassette case). If you want to record voice or music, these will work fine. No player made today would be able to take advantage of type 2,3, or 4 tape so your not missing out if you own new cassette player. My player is 40 years old so with dolby B enabled I can say it sounds very good, better than you would expect. The Good:Maxell is still making good sounding type 1 tape in 2021The tapes come with a warranty backing the productWith Dolby the music quality is goodThe tape is consistent so tuning a player will be easyComes with paper stickers so you can label tapes and the j cardCase held together with screws so you can access the tape and remove it if you need toThe Bad:Beat by old maxell type II tape in sound qualityThe cassette caddy more often than not arrived with cracks, definitely not as durable as older casesThe cassette itself had cracks in it and one tape even had plastic in the case with the tape that I had to removeNot the classic grey case I associate with maxellIt does everything well in terms of sound. I might sound a little down, and its because its my only choice. Its not a bad option, but I wish I could buy maxell type 2 tape because on the right player it still sounds marginally better. Its a hell of a lot better than onn cassettes. It is the best tape currently made, and that is what matters
