08-08-2025I purchased this heater as a replacement since my last heater finally gave out. The heater itself does its job, it heats the water to temp and keeps it somewhat to where it’s set. It was a great addition having the temp probe and digital readout. I have tested it against another heater’s internal control and mercury thermometer and it seems to be mostly accurate. My only issue, and reason for giving this thermometer a four star review, is because the temperature dial on the top of the heater, are the ONLY temperatures you may choose to heat your aquarium. It is not variable, or adjustable. I found if I set the heater to 75, the tank would sit around 72, and if set to 79, it will stay at 79. The seven degree swing seemed rather large IMO. Like I said, the temp is not variable, and if the selector on the heater is not lined up with a number, the heater will not turn on at all or heat the aquarium. All in all it does its job, but if you want variability when selecting a temperature, spend a little extra money and buy a heater with that option.

08-08-2025I've had this heater now for about 5 months. It's been working great. It took a few days for it to adjust in my 65 gallon tank. The temperature was about 5-7 degrees off at first but then it became more accurate. I'm not sure why. I always use two thermometers just in case. I have it set at 79 and the tank is at 80 which is good to me. I've used many heaters like this and I've never had one be exact. It's easy to adjust with one hand and the temp is always where I want it to be. The suction cups are strong. Just make sure you don't put one on the heating element. The lowest one should be in the middle, in line with the indicator light, just above the coils and the second one should be all the way at the top. This will still provide stability (unless you have big fish that might knock it around) and prevent the cup from warping. There's a rubber foot at the bottom of the heater that keeps it from tapping the glass. The demonstration video shows it wrong! The digital thermometer also seems to work well but I stopped using it because I just prefer glass thermometers. I tested it with two glass thermometers and it matched consistently for 4 months. I'll be using it for acclimating or moving fish. I would recommend this thermometer for anyone and add to just make sure the suction cups are positioned correctly and always try to test your heaters without fish first if you can.
