If you don't get golf, this movie may not work for you. But if you've done enough golf to realize it for the mental game it is, then this movie will speak to you. But if you've played golf and also done any meditative eastern religion practice, then you'll *really* like this movie. I was recommended this movie by someone who decided to look into meditative/buddhist practices as a result of this movie. Having seen it now, I can see why.

Visually beautiful. Good actors. Would be difficult to follow if you had not read the book.

Plays perfect, came in new packaging as described. Definitely recommend reading the book before watching the film.

Technical Specifications

En route to India in 1956, a young American philosophy student, Michael Murphy (Mason Gamble, Rushmore), takes a detour to the legendary Links of Burningbush. Seeking to enjoy one last round before giving up his beloved game, he is unexpectedly paired with the mysterious, mischievous golf pro Shivas Irons (David O'Hara, Braveheart, The Departed). The wild adventure he shares with his enigmatic teacher over the next 24 hours will change Murphy's perception of golf and life indelibly. GOLF IN THE KINGDOM, with original music from musician Dame Evelyn Glennie (Touch the Sound), is adapted from Michael Murphy's 1972 classic novel, the best-selling work of fiction ever written about the game, deemed "a masterpiece on the mysticism of golf" by the San Francisco Chronicle.
